We are a pair of unlikely missionaries. Thankfully God is good enough to use us when we make ourselves available to him. Here is our background (short version!) and a little about what we will be doing in the DR.
Brian has a bachelor's degree in business management from UT (Tennessee, for all our Texas friends!)He worked for 14 years for an industrial supply company called Grainger before we moved to the mission field in Jan,2005. After running the construction site along with Dominican staff, he took over the responsibilities of running teams (short term outreaches and the semester program.) Following his mom's stroke, we moved back to Huntsville. He wanted to be closer to help with the transitions his parents were having to make. For these past two years he has worked for CTH Rentals overseeing operations. When we move back to the DR, his position will be Director of Operations, and he will oversee a leadership team as well as the overall ministry of SI in the DR.
Sissy has her Master's of Physical Therapy from UAB. After working several years at East Tn. Children's Hospital in Knoxville, she chose to give up her career life to stay home and raise their two daughters. It was her interest in therapy with children though, that brought her to Students International in the DR. For two years she lead the PT site working with children at Genesis (the SI Special Education School). Along with Brian she spent her final year in the DR working with short term teams and helped develop the semester program. When we returned stateside, she decided to homeschool the girls and has been teaching them the past three years. She will continue to teach them, and also help teach some course work for the semester program. She will also assist Brian with organization (because every good director needs a good assistant.)
